The 18th NUGA games at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, would have been marred by a threat made by the athletics officials yesterday when they decided to down tools work for an hour.

The officials mostly from Lagos, expressed their resentment to the Local Organizing committee over what they described as "total neglect by the organizers".

It took the intervention of the LOC chairman, professor Abubakar Mustapha to restore sanity before the officials could get back to business of the day.

Gloria Obajimi, head of the athletics officials from Lagos complained that nobody has been able to meet them to sort out some of their problems since their arrival for the games.

The LOC boss had to persuade them to work as he promised to look into their case accordingly.

Meanwhile, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) continues to blaze the trail with a 3-0win in Badminton over Ambrose Ali University.

University of Maiduguri also displaced Benue state University 3-1 in the same event as Bayero University shocked university of Agriculture, Abeokuta 3-1.

University of Port Harcourt bowed 0-3 to the host Ahmadu Bello University in men’s category.

UNIBEN girls had an easy ride over OAU with a 2-0 win as BUK lost 1-2 to ABU.

FUTY also lost its bearing over Micheal Okpara University as they were subdued 0-2.
